Endress+Hauser Offers a Complete Biofuel E5 Blending System Solution in the Vietnamese Market

A COMPLETE ENDRESS+HAUSER SOLUTION

n accordance with the Vietnamese government’s roadmap for biofuel E5 usage, key petroleum distributors will upgrade or invest in E5 biofuel blending systems to supply the markets of seven major provinces and cities: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, Da Nang, Can Tho, Quang Ngai, and Ba Ria-Vung Tau from December 1st, 2014, with nationwide adoption scheduled from December 1st, 2015.

Endress+Hauser provides a complete, pre-engineered E5 blending system solution that is manufactured and fully tested at the factory. Upon delivery to Vietnam, it only requires mechanical assembly and can be commissioned rapidly. The Endress+Hauser LMS (Liquid Blending System) primarily consists of the following key components:

    • DN80 Coriolis flowmeter on the gasoline line.

    • DN25 Coriolis flowmeter on the ethanol line.

    • Batch Controller with integrated blending functionality (ISOIL Batch Controller).

Based on a pre-set recipe for E5 or E10 fuel, the control valves (regulating and digital control valves) automatically adjust to achieve the highest blending accuracy.

The system can also be configured to blend based on actual volume or net standard volume.

Main Components of the Skid:

a. Promass 84F Coriolis Flowmeter (Endress+Hauser)

Endress+Hauser’s Coriolis flowmeters are widely used in Vietnam’s petroleum industry and are certified for custody transfer by the Directorate for Standards, Metrology and Quality (STAMEQ).

Key features of Endress+Hauser Coriolis flowmeters:

    • High Accuracy: ±0.05% for mass, ±0.1% for volume.

    • Multi-Parameter Measurement: Simultaneously measures volume, mass, density, and temperature, enabling product quality control.

    • No Moving Parts: Eliminates mechanical wear, minimizing maintenance and periodic calibration.

    • High Process Tolerance:

      • Temperature up to +350 °C (+662 °F)

      • Pressure up to 350 bar (5080 psi)

      • Flow rate up to 2200 t/h (DN250 line size)

    • Custody Transfer Certification: Compliant with international and Vietnamese standards: PTB, NMi, METAS, BEV, NTEP, MC, STAMEQ.

    • Explosion-Proof Certificates: ATEX, FM, CSA, TIIS

b. Omnigrad TR61 Temperature Measuring Device (Endress+Hauser)

The Endress+Hauser Omnigrad TR61 is a high-precision temperature transmitter designed specifically for explosion-proof environments, particularly in oil & gas and chemical industries.

The device includes a thermowell built to withstand harsh operating conditions with high pressure and temperature. It can be integrated with a transmitter featuring multiple communication outputs.

c. VEGA II Batch Controller with Integrated Blending Functionality

Endress+Hauser recommends the ISOIL VEGA II batch controller with integrated product blending capability.

 

This controller manages the entire blending and batch dispensing process. It ensures precise control of the blending ratio according to pre-set recipes.

The ISOIL batch controller is specifically designed to be compatible with the Endress+Hauser Promass 84F Coriolis flowmeter. It can receive volume, mass, and density signals from both the gasoline and ethanol lines, enabling the highest control accuracy and product quality assurance throughout the batching and blending process.

The VEGA II controller’s design allows for intuitive and straightforward system setup and operation by plant personnel.

It complies with explosion-proof standards: Directive 94/9/EC “ATEX” (explosive atmospheres). Ex d IIB T6 Gb certification, category II 2 G (Zone 1 and Zone 2, gas), Certificate “INERIS05ATEX0025”.

The controller also conforms to the OIML R117 standard for custody transfer operations in Europe and many other countries.

d. R-ISE / N Multistep Digital Control Valve (ISOIL)

For precise batching control, Endress+Hauser recommends the ISOIL R-ISE/N valve to regulate product discharge flow rate. A key feature of the ISE/N valve is its self-actuated operation, utilizing the pressure of the process media itself for control. The diaphragm opens and closes using the energy from the line media.

The valve is controlled by two Ex-proof solenoids (one Normally Closed, one Normally Open) for operation in explosive atmospheres.

Typically, the valve is installed downstream of the meter in truck loading applications or for product transfer in pipelines for petroleum and chemical products.

Endress+Hauser recommends using the ISOIL ISE/N multistep control valve.

The valve is controlled by the batch controller and can be configured to modulate the flow rate. This allows for step-wise opening or closing of the diaphragm. By varying the frequency and amplitude of the pulses from the flow computer, precise flow control is achieved.
