NK Engineering held a specialized customer seminar for the Oil & Gas and Chemical industries in the Southern region.

2018 is expected to mark a strong transformation for the Oil & Gas and Chemical industries, with many positive signs emerging after a long period of volatility. However, the impact of the “Industry 4.0 Revolution” is posing new challenges for Vietnamese enterprises, as the pace of technological advancement moves faster than the changes within the industry.

With the goal of supporting companies in adopting and integrating the most advanced automation technologies and solutions into their production and business processes, NK Engineering and Endress+Hauser jointly organized the “Clean Process + Clear Progress” seminar dedicated to the Oil & Gas and Chemical industries. The event attracted the participation of more than 70 enterprises in the oil & gas production, refinery, and petrochemical sectors from the Southern and Central regions of Vietnam.

At the beginning of the program, Mr. Hai Thuy Ngo – Industry Manager of Endress+Hauser Switzerland – delivered a presentation on the latest innovations of Endress+Hauser in the field of flow measurement. The new-generation Proline 300 series, equipped with Heartbeat™ technology, enables perfect system integration and continuous self-monitoring of operations and process conditions with high reliability.

The Coriolis flowmeter Promass Q, which was recently honored with the Swiss Technology Award in the Innovation Leaders category, also drew strong interest from attendees. Promass Q applies the most advanced multi-frequency technology available today, allowing accurate measurement of liquids containing fine air bubbles with high reliability, even for highly viscous media such as paint, oil, and lubricants.

In addition, Mr. Venkatesh Deshpande – Regional Development Manager, Endress+Hauser Singapore – delivered a presentation on the Flow Measurement Management System – the Metering Skid used in custody transfer applications. A Metering Skid is the optimal solution for fuel loading and unloading for tank trucks, vessels, and storage tanks, where certified equipment is required for commercial transactions.

Compared to mechanical flowmeters, Coriolis flowmeters directly measure flow rate and mass, while simultaneously measuring density, temperature, and viscosity at the same time. This is considered a future-oriented solution as the trend in material transfer is shifting from volume-based to mass-based measurement (e.g., LPG). In addition, the low pressure loss allows Coriolis flowmeters to operate at high flow velocities, thereby reducing loading and unloading time. Endress+Hauser’s Coriolis flowmeters have been pattern-approved and certified by the Directorate for Standards, Metrology and Quality of Vietnam for use in custody transfer applications.

At the seminar, attendees were also introduced to and had the opportunity to experience firsthand the advanced features of the new-generation Tank Gauging Management System – the New Tank Gauging Platform. This is one of the most advanced solutions in the world today for tank monitoring and management, featuring high-accuracy radar level devices (NMR8x) and servo level devices (NMS8x) as its key product lines.

In recent years, NK Engineering has successfully implemented several Tank Gauging management systems and overfill protection systems for customers such as Wilmar, PV Oil Vung Tau, Saigon Petro, and PV Gas Thi Vai, with customized measurement applications tailored to each plant’s specific requirements.
